With each update Dennis Jacinto, Bob Evans and the rest of the staff have expanded and refined the database into a universal industry wide standard. Their responsiveness to rebuilders needs and industry demands is reflected in the user friendly interface. The program does not promote one supplier over another, bu instead gives multiple supplier interchanges for units as well as component parts. This is very helpful when a primary supplier is out of a needed part.
The cost of the program is repaid many times over in additional sales and time saved. I strongly recommend this program to all shop owners, rebuilders and counter persons.

A short time after my first conversation with Dennis Jacinto, President of Lester Catalog Company, I realized the benefits his company had to offer. Such as professional up to date cataloging for practically anything that has a starter, alternator or generator, with easy look up with KwikFinder CD Rom and plenty of pictures in the PIC Picture Catalogs.
Since that first conversation I have found myself, on a daily basis, utilizing some form of data Dennis has provided my company and me. For instance, about 3 years ago NASTRA decided with the help of ASR (Applied SystemsResearch), www.asr-reman.com, to utilize our ASR-REMAN barcode and scanning module in both our returns and packaging departments. We immediately became more efficient andaccurate in both departments. Then after another conversation with Dennis Jacinto of Lester Catalog, and Ken Carlson of Applied Systems Research, during which we discussed NASTRA’s new scanning project, we decided toutilize the Lester PICs with ASR-REMAN. So I imported every PIC that Lester had assigned, along with a PIC cross reference that consisted of the NASTRA Part Number interchanged to PIC Number, into our ASR-REMAN Server.
Now, when a customer’s core return comes back we create a core check-in with ASR, and as each unit is scanned, simultaneously on one screen, the customer receives proper credit ontheir account (see figure 1), while on a second ASR screen a PIC displays(see figure 2) so my core return personnel can physically identify the unit and match the barcode for the customer’s credit. By having the constant repetition of the PIC display, we ensure that our core inventory is totally accurate, and my core return department personnel’s core identification is enhanced.
With our packaging departments we utilized the PICs and ASR-REMAN similarly. We affix a barcoded label to each unit. As the units are tested, they are scanned, and simultaneously the ASR program prints a bar-coded box label, and the PIC displays for final identification by our packaging department personnel. This step has completely eliminated mis-boxed products. Again, this constant repetition of the PIC display has made our employees feelmore knowledgeable. In fact, they now rely so heavily on the PICs that when a PIC doesn’t display, they make note of the unit, and are constantly asking me for updates. So by using the ASR-REMAN barcode system of scanning along with PIC from Lester we have streamlined our production flow tenfold. Just another useful idea for utilizing the Lester PICs.
